The Biggest Messaging Mistake When Dating (PLUS 5 TIPS)

Learn the biggest messaging mistake when texting or online dating, plus 5 ways to improve your conversations to increase your chances of getting a date!

Always remember to ask a question, ESPECIALLY if this is the first few messages.

5 Rules to Improve Your Messaging

Follow these 5 rules to increase your chances of getting a date and keeping the person interested in you.

1. Always ask a question in your opening message

Give the person an easy way to hook into the conversation.

2. Most messages should containĀ a question

Unless you have reached the banter stage where conversation is free-flowing over text, make sure the majority of your messages contain a question.

3. Two questions max

Don’t go overboard. Don’t ask more than 2 questions maximum. It’s confusing and the cognitive load on the other person is too high, meaning they’re unlikely to respond.

4. Keep it open-ended

Keep your questions open ended. Don’t ask something which can be answered by a simple yes or no.

5. Don’t ask boring questions

What have you been going today? How was your day? How was work? What do you do? Boring. Boring. Boring!

Instead ask funny, jokey, interesting or deep questions about their life. This will give you a better idea about their personality too:

If he has a picture of him holding a bunny and you’ve found out earlier he’s a lawyer, ask: “Oh so you’re a lawyer. Why did you decide to pursue that instead of becoming a champion bunny trainer?”
